How to eat out affordably when travelling
Travelling can be super expensive. On top of flights and hotels, you also need to eat and drink. Of course, the obvious choice to cut cost down is to eat cheap, fast food like Maccies. But what if I told you there was a way to cut the cost and also enjoy the meals, allowing you to eat out affordably in restaurants?
When I moved abroad, after rent, I had €500 left each month. It certainly sounds manageable, but when you live abroad or you are travelling, you want to visit and eat as much as you can whilst you can. Experiencing the food and drink on offer is definitely a huge aspect of travelling. Towards the end of a month, when funds were running dry, I discovered this app, The Fork. And wow this was an absolute life changer.
The Fork allows you to eat out on a budget, offering a wide variety of restaurants that if you book a restaurant that is partnered with The Fork through their app, they offer discounts from 10-50% off.
How does it work?
Not all restaurants on the app have a discount. But on your restaurant search, you can select a filter ‘Only with offers’ which shows you restaurants that offer anywhere between 10-50% off your bill if you book a table through the app.
Also, the more you book with the app, the more ‘Yums’ you can collect which can be converted into loyalty discounts for certain restaurants.
Another reason why I like the fork is that on top of this, it is really easily demonstrates the restaurant location in map view, as well as the type of food the restaurant serves, its respective discount and rating!
Once you have booked the restaurant via the app, you will get an email confirmation and the restaurant will have your booking. When you are ready to pay the bill, the discount comes off automatically so there is no need for an awkward conversation about discounts.
The Fork is available in 4,000 cities in 11 different countries:
- France
- Spain
- Portugal
- Denmark
- Switzerland
- Belgium
- Italy
- Netherlands
- Sweden
- Brazil
- Australia
Honestly, you need this for your next trip! It now became super easy to eat out affordably.
