Best Bars in Madrid: 5 You Must Visit
Madrid is one of the best cities for enjoying a relaxing evening at a bar, with drinks and tapas but the streets are filled with bars so it can be hard to choose from! Therefore, I’ve outlined 5 of the best bars in Madrid for your different evening styles and needs (saving the best until last).
El Tigre
First off, El Tigre! It may not be the classiest of places, but I can assure you I was here almost every week. Pay €5 for a cerveza (beer) or tinto de verano (red wine and lemonade). Or €6 for mojitos and mixers and be greeted with a large portion of tapas per drink! This includes patatas bravas, chicken wings, tortilla and on the rare occasion padrón peppers. This would therefore be the perfect place to try tapas for the first time, you don’t even have to pay for it! (But do bare in mind that this quality of food does not represent Spanish cuisine as a whole – it’s just a good start). I would recommend going with a large group of people, after all, more people = more drinks = MORE FOOD! And just like that dinner is sorted.
Apart from the bonus of heaps of free food, the ambience is also a seller. It’s always lively and the friendly barmen that work there 7 days a week so it’s a really nice way to meet the locals!

Rosa Negra
Rosa Negra is another favourite of mine and just like El Tigre, I have so many amazing memories here. Their €4 mojitos are amaing and come in different flavours, such as passion fruit, tamarind, guava or strawberry! I personally recommend the passion fruit mojito. The staff do prefer if you eat in but with their chilli nachos to share you will be good to go! Trust me, after a few of their mojitos you will probably need them.

Rosi la loca
Rosi la loca is one of Madrid quirkiest bars (as it suggests in the name) with wacky interior design. Some cocktails are served inside heads of characters from Alice and and Wonderland.
And if not, they might be served in a trolley, a pineapple or a coconut instead! Before leaving they also give you some sort of shot out of a test tube. Talk about a crazy experience. Make sure you book ahead because this place is always busy and it’s no wonder why!

Takos al pastor
There are many €1 taco restaurants in Madrid but by far Takos al pastor is the best. The flavour is off the scale. Each taco is more or less €1 and they sell many different fillings including al pastor, chicken, carne asada, veggie options etc. There’s always a queue on the street to eat here but I can assure you it’s worth the wait. (On the other hand, if you want to be smart and skip the queue, go around lunch time).

C. de la Abada, 2, 28013 Madrid, Spain
5. Azotea del Círculo
Saving the best until last! There are a few popular rooftop bars in Madrid, including Riu’s rooftop bar by Plaza de España, which has 360 views of Madrid. But, Azotea del Círculo has my heart with views of Gran Via and Plaza Cibeles. It’s €5 to go up but with those views at sunset are priceless.
