A little about me!
Hey guys, I’m Aimée!
Ever since I was little I loved travelling and had a dream of travelling the world (cliche I know). But as I got older and began doing my exams, I realised that after university I wanted to take a gap year just to give myself a break. I remember vividly a girl in my class telling me that I was never going to afford it and that I need to think realistically about my goals. I told her that she was wrong and that I was going to accomplish it, I just knew it was possible, but in reality, her words had always sat at the back of my mind.
By the time the third year came around, people began scoring graduate jobs and I had no idea what I wanted to do. I headed to my career advisor and told her about jobs with travel so we began looking at airline jobs, which wasn’t for me. I did some home research and found a job teaching English that you could do all over the world, but one country stuck the most with me – Spain.
The only thing was that the programme I had found, I had to pay for, which naturally enough she thought was a little bit of a scam and recommended a similar programme for free. I have her to thank that in the next 6 months I was on a plane moving to Spain. And I was able to afford it because I was going to get paid.
I have the girl in my class to thank for allowing me to prove to myself that what others thought was impossible, was actually possible. And that I should never give up on my dreams – because that one? Accomplished it mate.
